My four year old niece is currently in the middle of her three year chemo treatment to fight Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She has very good doctors and all this is being addressed with her parents and doctors but I am asking because I am curious. How serious is her prolonged molluscum skin infection and why might she have to have the molluscum cut and burned off? She has had the sores biopsied and it tested positive for a bacterial infection on her skin that is related to the molluscum. The molluscum has not responded to treatment as of yet. They are currently trying silvercure to treat the molluscum and if that doesn’t work then the next step is to cut and burn them off. The docs are leaving the ‘cut and burn’ as the last option because that increases the risk of infection due to her immunocompromised state. Why is the molluscum so serious for immunocompromised people?
Molluscum is a sort of chicken pox disease. I had it and it took well over a year to clear. I had to get them frozen off. They spread really bad and you have to be careful not to share towels n things like that.
When I was looking into ways to treat molluscum, someone people said during the war soldiers would use urine to treat infections etc and they had tried it on their mulluscum and on some people it had worked. I got so desperate I tried it on myself but it didn’t work. Worth a try tho.
I think it’s probably so serious as her immune system is obviously damaged (her body won’t get rid of them) and the cut and burn will leave her with scars. Good luck xx
